Today we’re taking another look at Phaedrus / Aesop’s fables. Once again the spelling follows transliterated chinuk pipa.
The Fox and the Grapes
foks klatwa kopa wain olali stik, iaka tiki makmak.
A fox went over to a grape vine, he wanted to eat.
skukum iaka shomp sahali
he jumped up powerfully
pi wik kata pus iaka tlap ukuk grips.
but he couldn’t get at those grapes.
“ilo ridi kopa makmak ukuk. klunas wik tlus tist ukuk.”
“Those aren’t ready to eat. I reckon they taste bad.”

They should listen, those who are not strong enough to do something

and then they make themselves feel better with words.
