Ever tried reading some chinuk pipa but get stuck on a place name? Maybe it’s hard to make out or maybe you’re not familiar with it? Or, maybe you want to see what communities or countries have had a mention in the Kamloops Wawa? Well, this tool is meant to help you!
On this map I have placed a good amount of the place names as they appear in common forms in the Kamloops Wawa newspaper and chinuk pipa letters. Where I have had time or been able to, I have also given you a link to an example of the word in use.
This map is not yet exhaustive. There are names which are missing and some which do not yet have an example linked. It is really still a draft, so cut me a bit of slack, however, I thought you might still find it interesting!
See the legend as names have been colour-coded into: BC towns / reserves, countries, bodies of water, regions, continents, and foreign cities.
